About the Steinert Marching Unit
The members of the Steinert Marching Unit work hard to be the best they can be while having a great deal of fun together. In addition to performing for football games, they also play music in support of the cheerleaders and football team during three of the four quarters of the game.
Over the years, the sea of Steinert green has become a part of the home team bleachers. This is not just the green of the unit's uniforms, but those of the involved parents who come to support their children. This is one of the most important roles a SMUPA member can play; being there to cheer on the unit each week!
There is a strong feeling of pride, when the drum cadence begins and the members of the unit march onto the field. Their heads held high and uniforms and instruments looking so bright in the sun, has to be experienced. Once they reach their starting formation on the field, the crowd becomes quiet. Then at the direction of the drum major(s), the performance begins. Words fail to capture the moment. It is the precision of the sights and sounds being performed, that are the rewards of the many hours of rehearsal and practice, and are the source of happiness and pride for each member of the Steinert Marching Unit Parents Association.
